One of five "Zeke 52" kamikaze aircraft finds its mark on escort carrier USS KALININ BAY (CVE 68) and explodes on the forward-starboard catwalk.   This photograph was taken from USS WHITE PLAINS (CVE 66).  A Taffy III Combat Air Patrol aircraft can be seen just ahead of the ship.  Taffy III's CAP was out of position and unable to attack the kamikaze aircraft.
