Disposition of Task Group 77.4 on October
25, 1944
The original strength of Task Group 77.4 had been
depleted the previous afternoon.
- Task Unit 77.4.1 (Taffy I) CVE's CHENANGO and SAGINAW BAY, DE
EDMONDS, and Task Unit 77.4.2 (Taffy II) DE OBERRENDER were detached from the Task Group
and sent to Morotai at 1645 on October 24. This depleted the air strength of the Task
Group by about 60 units.
